Our Present

Belfast Charitable Society continues to benefit the people of Belfast, and beyond, by supporting charities and philanthropic causes. We think carefully about how best to direct our resources, and today our work falls across three broad areas: grants and partnerships, promoting philanthropy, and preserving the heritage that makes Belfast what it is.

Grants & Partnerships

For over 270 years, the Belfast Charitable Society has stood alongside those who need it most. Today, that commitment takes shape through a range of actively managed donations and grant programmes, funded by the Society. The Society also often works with other charitable organisations in partnership.

Promoting Philanthropy

We provide the space and resource to discuss and promote philanthropy across Northern Ireland, helping to bring together key stakeholders and facilitate training to inform fundraisers and those working in funding about the issues that matter most.

Heritage and area development

Through our heritage work with the North Belfast Heritage Cluster’s project, Great Place North Belfast, and the Mary Ann McCracken Foundation, we help to preserve the stories, buildings and legacies that have shaped Belfast, making them accessible and meaningful to this generation.
